Several tech companies have sacked thousands of employees over the past months to cut costs. Amazon and Google are also expected to announce mass layoffs very soon.
Amazon, which has already started terminating workers, has not disclosed the exact number of people who will lose their employment. However, other stories said that Amazon intended to fire some 20,000 workers.
According to CEO Andy Jassy, layoffs at Amazon will continue until 2023. Leaders from across the organisation are collaborating with their teams to assess the long-term viability of the companies.
Google, on the other hand, is likewise looking to cut workers and anticipates making a major layoff announcement soon. The actual number of Google employees who will lose their employment is not yet known.
