E-commerce Leaders Urge Legislative Reforms To Support Small Businesses!

As the year comes to a close, the CEOs of eBay and Etsy have called on US lawmakers to address the needs of small-business owners who sell on their platforms.

eBay CEO Jamie Iannone expressed concern over new tax reporting requirements that could cause confusion and increased costs for casual sellers, as well as potentially lead to more items ending up in landfills and fewer used items being available on marketplaces.

Meanwhile, Etsy CEO Josh Silverman travelled to Washington DC to advocate for government-supported child care and family leave options for online sellers, who often lack the benefits provided to employees of traditional jobs.

Both executives emphasized the crucial role that online marketplaces play in providing an economic parachute for millions of people.
