The European shopping trend has been growing for years, with an increasing number of people making purchases online. They mainly shop to buy clothes and pay bills. One in three purchases happens across borders too.
When it comes to buying internationally, Ireland is at the top of the list with Germany and Israel closely following while France is least likely to buy internationally.
According to the Paypal e-commerce index, European consumers are more likely than ever before to shop online. 65%purchase something every week or more, with the average person checking out online 3.7 times per week.
80% of Netherlands shoppers make 4 purchases per week online which is followed by the Greeks with 76% of shoppers buying 4.7 purchases online every week.
Similarly, the two countries that spend the most money each month are Sweden and the United Kingdom, at 486 and 420 euros, respectively.
Moreover, the obstacle to purchasing online is a lack of security and trust in the system preventing half of the European consumers from ordering goods online, while 40% find it too complicated to complete their purchase
